UGA offers summer classes as convenient option for students
While most students consider taking a break during the summer, some students may want to squeeze in extra courses to stay on track for graduation or to get an early start on their college experience. The University of Georgia will offer summer sessions for these students in both the traditional and online formats.

Nearly 6,400 new undergraduates ready to start UGA classes Aug. 13
The University of Georgia is expecting approximately 6,400 new students this fall, including 4,970 freshmen and almost 1,400 transfer students. The number of applications received for this year's freshman class-nearly 19,000-is the highest recorded at UGA for a new class, following several years of record applications. Since 2003, applications for UGA's freshman class have increased by more than 50 percent. Coming on the heels of 2011's record-breaking freshman class of 5,500, this year's class size is more typical, similar to the 2010 incoming freshmen.

UGA Undergraduate Admissions to host Colleges in Your Backyard program
High school students and their parents are invited to learn more about post-secondary opportunities available in Athens-Clarke County and surrounding communities at the third annual Colleges in Your Backyard program on Jan. 15. The University of Georgia Office of Undergraduate Admissions is hosting the event, which is free and open to the public, from 3-5 p.m. at the UGA Chapel.

McDuff to head chief admissions officers group
Nancy McDuff, associate vice president for admissions and enrollment management at the University of Georgia, is the incoming chair of the Association of Chief Admission Officers of Public Universities. She will take office next June at the organization's annual meeting at the University of Colorado, Boulder and serve for two years.

UGA participates in virtual college fair with students in India
The University of Georgia is one of 48 U.S. colleges and universities, and the only Georgia institution, slated to participate in a virtual college fair with students in India on Saturday, Aug. 27. More than 8,000 prospective students who live in India have registered for the event, which will allow them to interact with campus representatives in real time, using web cams and high-speed broadband connection.

UGA School of Law class sets record for LSAT score, diversity
One of the most "academically talented" and "diverse" classes in the history of the University of Georgia School of Law began the three-year pursuit of a law degree this week. The Class of 2014, comprised of 225 students, has a median Law School Admission Test score of 165, which is a school record.

UGA enrolls record number of incoming freshmen
The University of Georgia is expecting a record number of new students on campus when fall semester classes begin Aug. 15. According to data from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, more than 5,500 freshmen-an increase of more than 10 percent over last year-will be enrolled. The number of new transfer students remains stable at around 1,400.

More than 6,100 new undergraduates ready to start UGA classes Aug. 16
The University of Georgia is expecting more than 6,100 new undergraduate students this fall, including just over 4,700 new freshmen and close to 1,400 new transfer students.Another 1,000 new undergraduates-200 of them freshmen-are expected to enroll in January for the spring term, bringing the overall total of new students to 7,100, according to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
