Community panel discussion to follow screening of ‘Bully’ at Ciné May 16
In coordination with this week's screening of the new documentary film "Bully" at Ciné in Athens, the Public School Risk Institute and the University of Georgia College of Education will present a community panel discussion May 16 from 7-9 p.m. to help raise awareness of the need to make schools safer for all students.

Musician, philanthropist John Legend to speak at UGA
The University of Georgia University Union Student Programming Board will present "An Evening with John Legend," a lecture and performance by the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter on April 17 at 8 p.m. in the Tate Student Center Grand Hall.

Abstinence-only education does not lead to abstinent behavior, UGA researchers find
States that prescribe abstinence-only sex education programs in public schools have significantly higher teenage pregnancy and birth rates than states with more comprehensive sex education programs, researchers from the University of Georgia have determined.

UGA College of Education offers Poverty in Schools workshop at UGA-Gwinnett Nov. 14
The University of Georgia College of Education will offer a workshop on effective teaching methods to reach students from poor and working-class families for teachers, administrators, counselors and teacher educators on Nov. 14 at the UGA-Gwinnett campus. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in room 165 of the Intellicenter Building at UGA-Gwinnett, located at 2530 Sever Road in Lawrenceville.

Date set for 2012 MLK Freedom Breakfast
The planning committee for the MLK Freedom Breakfast has announced the date for the 2012 event. With the theme "The Power of the Dream: Moving Forward with a Shared Vision," the ninth annual breakfast will be held Jan. 13 at 7:30 a.m. in the Grand Hall of the University of Georgia Tate Student Center.
