University of Georgia organic and sustainable agriculture experts will host their second annual Organic Twilight Tour July 11 from 6-8 p.m. at the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences' organic research farm in Watkinsville.

Odum Environmental Grants awarded to 10 Athens-area school projects
The Eugene Odum Environmental Grants Program, which is administered by the University of Georgia Office of Sustainability, awarded funding to 10 schools in the Athens area to implement environmental education projects over the upcoming school year.

Four members of the University of Georgia community recently were recognized for their dedication to creating a more sustainable UGA. The UGA Office of Sustainability, as part of Athens-Clarke County GreenFest, presented the 2013 Sustainable UGA Awards to outstanding students, faculty and staff on April 19.

Recycling Happy Hour to be held April 23 at UGA
The University of Georgia Office of Sustainability and WUGA radio, along with the Athens-Clarke County Recycling Division, will host a Recycling Happy Hour on April 23 from 5-7 p.m. in the UGA intramural field parking lot off of College Station Road.

2013 EcoFocus Film Festival set for March 20-24 in Athens
The Artic documentary "Chasing Ice" will officially open the 2013 EcoFocus Film Festival March 21 at Ciné. An initiative of the University of Georgia Odum School of Ecology now in its sixth year, EcoFocus features top-quality full-length, short and children's films that address pressing environmental issues.

UGA campus invited to ‘get caught green handed’ for RecycleMania competition
RecycleManiacs have returned to the University of Georgia to celebrate the 13th annual RecycleMania Tournament. This year, the Office of Sustainability is partnering with the Facilities Management Division services department to host a competition to help motivate the university community to reduce waste and increase recycling. From Feb. 25 to March 29, eight campus buildings will compete for the highest recycling rate.

Arbor Day Foundation gives UGA its third Tree Campus USA designation
From the towering old oaks on North Campus to new maples gracing the landscape to the south, the University of Georgia's acreage is teeming with trees. Because of the university's continued commitment to maintaining and adding new foliage, the Arbor Day Foundation has named UGA a Tree Campus USA for the third year in a row.

UGA awards sustainability grants to seven student projects
The University of Georgia Office of Sustainability has awarded $26,000 to seven student projects as part of its annual Campus Sustainability Grants Program. The program, funded by student green fees, provides financial and staff resources to implement projects that further the university's sustainability initiatives.

The University of Georgia Office of Sustainability has awarded its first scholarships for study abroad in sustainability to two UGA undergraduate students-Joanna "Joni" Troxel and Chadwick "Chad" Landon-as a part of the Brittney Fox Watts Memorial Endowment.

‘The Lorax’ to spur on participants in UGA’s fourth annual Green Cup Challenge
Once again, University of Georgia students are battling for the coveted Green Cup, and this week they will be inspired by Dr. Seuss. A screening of "The Lorax" will be hosted Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. in the north psychology-journalism auditorium. The event, which is free and open to the public as part of UGA's month-long Green Cup Challenge, is sponsored by the UGA Office of Sustainability, UGA Housing, Ecofocus Film Festival and Clif Bar.
