UGA grad student and Wilkes County teacher Jennifer Lance receives $10,000 scholarship
Jennifer Lance, a doctoral candidate in science education and a high school science teacher in Wilkes County, has received a Berneta Minkwitz Scholarship of $10,000 for the 2013-14 academic year from the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a professional honor society for women educators.

Ten UGA students, alumni awarded NSF fellowships
Ten University of Georgia students and alumni received graduate research fellowships from the National Science Foundation to conduct research while working on their master's and doctoral degrees. The awards provide students with up to $126,000 during a five-year period to conduct research in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Eleven students and alumni also received honorable mentions.

Grady dean names Dean’s Medalists
A trio of alumni leaders and friends were awarded the Dean's Medals for Leadership Excellence in Communication from the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. A. Mark Smith, Gloria Ricks Taylor and Claude Williams were recognized at a reception and dinner honoring Grady College leadership held May 5 at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education.

Two outstanding Georgia educational leaders—Philip D. Lanoue and Jack Parish-were recognized for their service to the field at the University of Georgia College of Education's educational administration and policy program's annual awards luncheon April 19. Also at the program, four doctoral students received scholarships and a fifth was recognized for his scholarly work.

College of Environment and Design professor named to the U.S. Committee of the Blue Shield
James K. Reap, associate professor in the University of Georgia College of Environment and Design, has been elected to the board of directors for the U.S. Committee of the Blue Shield. The committee was formed in 2006 in response to cultural heritage catastrophes around the world.
