The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will participate this summer in Blue Star Museums, a program that offers free admission and special discounts to all active-duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

James A. Joseph, the U.S. ambassador to South Africa from 1995 to 1999, will speak May 16 at 4 p.m. in the UGA Chapel. His talk will be on "Leadership as a Way of Being: Reflections on Nelson Mandela, Servant Leadership and Personal Renewal."

Legion Pool to open May 23 for summer season
Legion Pool at the University of Georgia will open on May 23 for the summer season. Hours of operation are 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. daily through July 31, and 2-7 p.m. Aug. 1-8.

The Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute at the University of Georgia will present its first exhibition on "Reflections of the Latin American Natural Environment," a national juried exhibition of contemporary art, from April 22 to May 17 in its offices at 290 S. Hull St.

UGA Bug Dawgs to host ‘The Beers and the Bees’ April 18
The University of Georgia Bug Dawgs, a student group in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences' entomology department, will host "The Beers and the Bees" April 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Terrapin Beer Company, 265 Newton Bridge Road. Event participants will learn about the benefits of pollination and local bees.

Campus Kitchen at UGA receives top student organization award
Campus Kitchen at UGA was named the University of Georgia's "Organization of the Year" during the 12th Annual H. Gordon and Francis S. Davis Student Organization Achievement and Recognition Awards, given out April 10 at the Tate Student Center. The hunger relief student organization, launched in March 2011, also received an award for "Outstanding Service to the Community."

Georgia Museum of Art to host free program for children this summer
The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia will host Art Adventures: Museum Mysteries, a free, interactive educational program designed for elementary-school-aged children this summer. The program will run through June and July and is ideal for groups of five or more such as day camps, day-care centers and community centers.

UGA’s Chew Crew goats return to Tanyard Creek
The University of Georgia's own semi-resident goat herd, the Tanyard Creek Chew Crew, has returned to its temporary grazing grounds next to the Hull Street parking deck on North Campus. And volunteers are needed Thursdays in April and May 1 from 4:30-6 p.m. to help with the goats and their work.

UGA Army ROTC to host charity golf tournament
The University of Georgia Army ROTC Alumni will hold their second annual charity golf tournament April 19 at noon at the UGA Golf Course. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and the ROTC Alumni Scholarship Fund, which was created in honor and memory of fallen UGA Army ROTC alumni, like 1st Lt. Noah Harris and 1st Lt. Ashley Henderson-Huff, who both died from injuries sustained in the line of duty.
