Media Advisory: Match Day event planned for GRU/UGA Medical Partnership March 21
The first class of medical students trained in Athens as part of the Georgia Regents University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership will participate in a Match Day ceremony on March 21. At noon, 38 members of the class of 2014 will open envelopes revealing where they will spend the residency portion of their medical education.

Good afternoon, and thank you for attending this State of the University address. It has been my pleasure and privilege to present this report, required by University Council statute, every January since I arrived here in the summer of 1997. UGA president to present 2013 State of the University Address
University of Georgia President Michael F. Adams will deliver the annual State of the University speech on Jan. 24 at 3:30 p.m. in the UGA Chapel. The event is free and open to the public. This year's speech, the 16th and final of Adams' tenure, will focus on areas of progress since he was named president in 1997 as well as issues that are important to UGA's continued strength.

Health Sciences Campus Update – July 2012
Classes at the Health Sciences Campus will begin in August, and the community is cordially invited to an open house celebration on Aug. 22. At this time, all facilities renovated as part of Phase I will be open and available for view. The Health Sciences Campus accommodates two primary occupants: the UGA College of Public Health and the Georgia Health Sciences University/UGA Medical Partnership.

UGA added $2.1 billion to the local economy in 2011
The University of Georgia continues to positively influence the Athens-area economy through both funds and employment. For fiscal year 2011, UGA had a total economic impact of $2.1 billion and 20,458 jobs, according to a recent study by the UGA Selig Center for Economic Growth that looked at the impact of all 35 University System of Georgia intuitions.

Scientists have been unable to determine the structure of a biologically important so-called GAG proteoglycan-or even to agree whether these remarkably complex molecules have well-defined structures.In a paper published in the early online edition of the journal Nature Chemical Biology, however, a team of scientists from the University of Georgia and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute announced that it has, for the first time, determined the sequence and structure of a glycosaminoglycan, or GAG, proteoglycan.
