UGA Office of International Education recognizes faculty and staff
Six University of Georgia faculty and staff members were honored by the UGA Office of International Education at its annual Faculty/Staff Awards reception held earlier this month. This annual event honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the university's internationalization. It also recognizes the many faculty and staff across campus who advance international education through their instruction, research, service, and through administrative and logistical support.

UGA Food Services chef to compete in culinary challenge
University of Georgia Food Services Chef Bryan Haymans has been selected to compete in the Culinary Challenge at the National Association of College and University Food Services Southern Region Conference on March 22 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn.

UGA School of Law’s Debra Love recognized for service
The University of Georgia School of Law Staff Council presented Debra G. Love with the 2011 Emma P. Terrell Distinguished Employee of the Year Award at the law school's Annual Holiday Luncheon and Employee Service Recognition Program earlier this month. The honor highlights staff members for their dedication and service to Georgia Law.

Chancellor honors UGA staff for exceptional customer service
Hank Huckaby, chancellor of the University System of Georgia, recently honored several University of Georgia employees for their outstanding customer service. On Nov. 16, two UGA teams and one individual won three awards at the Chancellor's Customer Service Awards ceremony in Atlanta.

UGA manager receives National Guard recognition
Darnell Tate, manager of the University of Georgia Oglethorpe Dining Commons, recently received the Patriot Award from the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The Patriot Award is presented to employers who practice leadership and personnel policies that support employee participation in the National Guard and Reserve.

University Architects honored for Stegeman renovation
Renovations to the University of Georgia Stegeman Coliseum netted the University Architects office statewide honors from the American Institute of Architects. On Oct. 15, the office received the AIA Georgia 2011 Honor Design Award—the top award for the state.

Athens, Ga. - Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal recently appointed two high-ranking University of Georgia libraries staff to the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Board.

UGA Parking Services named 2011 parking organization of the year
The International Parking Institute recently named University of Georgia Parking Services as the 2011 worldwide parking organization of the year. UGA competed against thousands of parking organizations including universities, hospitals, municipalities and private entities for this award.

UGA College of Pharmacy names Budd employee of the year
The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy recently honored Virginia "Sis" Budd as the 2010 Employee of the Year at its annual staff appreciation luncheon. Budd joined the college staff in 2004 and currently serves as a program coordinator in the college's Division of Outreach and Nontraditional Education. In that capacity she helps plan and implement continuing education programs, both on and off campus, for the state's pharmacists.

The Georgia Review takes seven honors and makes history at 2011 GAMMA Awards ceremony
The Georgia Review, the University of Georgia's internationally known quarterly journal of arts and letters, recently came away from the twenty-second annual GAMMA Awards ceremony with two golds, three silvers, a bronze, an honorable mention-and a piece of history. The GAMMAs, given by the Magazine Association of the Southeast, are judged by professionals from across the United States.
