UGA to recognize National Day of Mourning for former President Ronald Reagan

In recognition of the National Day of Mourning in honor of former President Ronald Reagan, the University of Georgia will toll the Chapel bell and observe a moment of silence at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 11, as the national funeral service for the President at the Washington National Cathedral concludes.

Members of UGA’s ROTC will ring the bell 40 times to mark President Reagan’s place in the line of presidential service. Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Rodney Bennett will make brief remarks at the Chapel bell. UGA class schedules and business hours of operation will be not be affected by the event.
