Advisory: UGA’s Ramsey Student Center begins 10th year of service

The Ramsey Student Center will mark the beginning of its 10th year of service to the UGA campus community in a special ceremony Monday, Sept. 20, at 4:30 p.m. in the main lobby.

Those participating in the ceremony include Doris Ramsey; Adam Sparks, president of the Student Government Association; Arnett C. Mace Jr., provost and senior vice president for academic affairs; Rodney Bennett, interim vice president for student affairs and dean of students; and Frank Crumley, senior associate athletic director.

The 430,000 sq. ft. Ramsey Student Center for Physical Activities is a state-of-the-art recreational structure, which opened Sept. 18, 1995. It serves 77 percent of the student body, 35 percent of the faculty and staff and records 1.1 million user visits annually.

Named in recognition of Bernard and Eugenia Ramsey, generous benefactors to the university, the facility provides an array of physical activities through a collaboration between UGA students, academics and athletics, according to Jane Russell, director of recreational sports and the Ramsey Student Center.
