Prominent American Muslim scholar Shaykh Hamza Yusuf to speak at UGA Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, one of the most prominent American Muslim scholars in the United States, will present a lecture titled “Islam and the Founding Fathers of America” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, in the UGA Chapel. The program is free of charge.

Shaykh Hamza is the director of the California-based Zaytuna Institute. He was among the American Muslim leaders with whom President George W. Bush consulted immediately after Sept. 11, 2001.

The program is sponsored by the UGA Virtual Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the Islamic World, the Department of Religion, and the Muslim Students Association.
