UGA professor of agriculture and applied economics Jeff Dorfman is quoted in an article about the economic impact of hospitals on the local economy. A Georgia Hospital Association report shows that in 2010 Athens Regional Medical Center generated $785 million and St. Mary's Health Care System produced $331 million for the Athens area economy.
