Search committee named to fill dean’s post in UGA Terry College of Business

Athens, Ga. – A 15-member committee has been formed to conduct a national search for the next dean of the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

Arnett C. Mace Jr., senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, announced that

Rebecca White, dean of UGA’s School of Law, will chair the committee, which includes faculty, staff and a student in the Terry College as well as several alumni of the college.

The committee will recommend a successor to P. George Benson, who has been dean since 1997. Benson will leave UGA next spring to become president of the College of Charleston. Mace has announced that Robert E. Hoyt, head of the department of insurance, legal studies and real estate, will serve as interim dean until the position is filled permanently.

In addition to White, members of the search committee include Mark Dawkins, Tull School of Accounting in the Terry College; Annette Poulsen, department of banking and finance; David Mustard, economics; Henry Munneke, insurance, legal studies and real estate; Melenie Lankau, management; Richard Watson, management and information systems; Rajiv Grover, marketing and distribution; Robert Hawkins, associate vice president for development; and William (Brooks) Andrews, an undergraduate student, and Brad Hunt, a staff member in the college.

Also on the committee are four alumni of the college: Earl Leonard, an executive-in-residence of the Terry College; Pat Pittard, who is a member of the University System of Georgia Board of Regents; Lowell White, president of the college’s Alumni Board; and Taylor Glover, chair of the college’s Board of Overseers.

Mace has announced that Ann Die Hasselmo of the search firm Academic Search Consulting Service will assist the search committee.
