Athens, Ga. - The University of Georgia Leadership Resource Team will present the 16th annual Georgia Collegiate Leadership Conference on Feb. 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tate Student Center. The daylong event draws college and university students from across Georgia for presentations and activities designed to foster personal, academic and career development.

This year's conference theme-"You Can Follow, But Can You Lead?"-encourages students to reflect on their leadership skills in order to better guide their campus activities.

Victor Antonio, an author, corporate trainer and former Fortune 500 CEO, will give the keynote address. From a poor upbringing in urban Chicago to a decades-long career in business and industry, Antonio inspires young people to believe in the viability of the American dream.

A case study competition will challenge student teams to test their critical thinking skills, resourcefulness and teamwork by responding creatively to an assigned issue.

"Most of the students who attend GCLC are heavily involved in student clubs and organizations on their campuses," said Joshua Podvin, senior coordinator for the Center for Student Organizations and an adviser for the Leadership Resource Team.

"We tailor the conference sessions to really build upon the leadership skills that these students are already cultivating," he said. "We want to give them practical and useful information they can put into practice immediately."

The Leadership Resource Team is a registered UGA organization comprised of students who provide leadership training to their peers. For more information on the conference, call 706/542-8584 or see http://stuorgs.uga.edu/lrt/gclc.html.
