Athens, Ga. - The annual Georgia Economic Outlook luncheon, hosted by the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, will feature two speakers who will present the economic forecast for the state and nation on Wednesday, Dec. 15, in Atlanta.

Robert T. Sumichrast, who has served as dean of the Terry College since 2007, will deliver the Georgia economic forecast. He holds the Simon S. Selig Jr. Chair for Economic Growth.

David A. Wyss will present the national forecast. Wyss is the chief economist at Standard & Poor's, where he is responsible for economic forecasts and publications. He co-authors the monthly Equity Insight and the weekly Financial Notes. Wyss has delivered the national forecast at two previous Georgia Economic Outlook events.

Billed as the state's premier economic forecasting event, the kickoff luncheon in Atlanta draws approximately 1,000 of the state's top business and governmental leaders to the Georgia World Congress Center for a detailed look into next year's economic prospects. Registration and a reception will get underway at 11:00 a.m., and the luncheon program will begin at noon. Jere Morehead, UGA's senior vice president for academic affairs and provost, will emcee the program.

Following the Atlanta kickoff, the Economic Outlook series goes on tour around the state, with events in Savannah (Jan. 13), Augusta (Jan. 14), Macon (Jan. 18), Albany (Jan. 20), Columbus (Jan. 21), Dalton (Jan. 25), Swainsboro (Jan. 27), Jekyll Island (Jan. 28) and Athens (March 2).

The silver sponsor of the Economic Outlook series is Atlanta-based Crawford & Co.

The series' bronze sponsors are Atlantic Capital Bank, Bank of North Georgia, FHLBank Atlanta, Gas South, Hardin Construction Co., Peachtree Planning Corp., Porter Keadle Moore LLP and Wells Real Estate Funds.

Additional media and community sponsors for the Atlanta program are the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Public Broadcasting Atlanta, the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Black Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Trend magazine, the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Georgia Economic Developers Association.

Registration fees for the Dec. 15th event in Atlanta are $80 per person, $640 for a table of eight guests or $1,500 for a priority table of eight guests. Fees include refreshments, lunch and Georgia Economic Outlook publications. Online registration is available at eol.terry.uga.edu.
