UGA grad students win competition at Sport Marketing Association Conference

Athens, Ga. – A team of four University of Georgia College of Education doctoral students won the 2012 Graduate Student Case Study Competition at the annual Sport Marketing Association Conference in Orlando, Fla.

Alyssa Tavormina, Carolina Salge, Brian Yim and Gregg Rich, all students in the department of kinesiology’s sport management doctoral program, presented a case study on how PepsiCo might get the most out of its role in the Super Bowl XXLVII Halftime Show in New Orleans on Feb. 3.

The UGA team was selected winner of the competition by an expert panel of five industry professionals and academic scholars in sport marketing research during the conference Oct. 23-26.

The UGA team was advised by Kevin K. Byon, an assistant professor in sport management and policy.
