UGA education professor named Outstanding Reviewer by AERA journal

Athens, Ga. – University of Georgia education professor Linda Harklau recently has been named an Outstanding Reviewer for 2009 by the American Educational Research Journal Section on Social and Institutional Analysis.

Harklau, a professor in the College of Education’s department of language & literacy education, will be recognized for her work at the American Educational Research Association annual meeting in Denver on April 30.

Harklau’s research interests include second language acquisition in adolescents and adults, literacy and academic instruction for language for minority students, the role of culture and identity in second language learning and qualitative approaches to research in second language acquisition.

Harklau joined the UGA faculty in 1996. Previously, she served as an assistant professor at Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Education in 1992.
