Alumni, Athletic associations to hold UGA Days

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Alumni Association and the UGA Athletic Association have teamed up to host the annual UGA Days from April through July. Host Chuck Dowdle, Head Football Coach Mark Richt, Head Basketball Coach Mark Fox and other special guests from the university will tour 10 cities in four states to share the latest news from UGA as well as their insights into the upcoming athletic seasons. Attendees will learn about their local UGA Alumni Association chapters and how to become involved.

The first UGA Day kicks off April 18 at the Forum Civic Center in Rome. Future UGA Days are: April 24 at the Doublegate Country Club in Albany; April 25 at the RiverMill Event Centre in Columbus; May 8 at the Walnut Creek Shooting Preserve in Macon; May 9 at the Charlotte Marriott City Center in Charlotte, N.C.; May 15 at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel in Jekyll Island; May 16 at the James H. Rainwater Conference Center in Valdosta; May 22 at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel Birmingham Ballroom in Birmingham, Ala.; May 24 at the George M. Steinbrenner Field Yankees Pavilion in Tampa, Fla.; and July 23 at the Cobb Galleria in Atlanta.

Several UGA administrators will be on hand at the various UGA Days. President Michael F. Adams will participate in the Albany event. Vice President for Instruction Laura Jolly will travel to Columbus and Charlotte. Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Jere Morehead will speak at the Atlanta and the Jekyll Island events. Associate Provost and Director of the Honors Program David Williams will visit Macon, and Senior Executive Director of Leadership Giving Greg Daniels will participate in the Valdosta program.

Richt is scheduled to speak in every city and will be joined by Fox in Albany, Columbus, Macon, Charlotte, Jekyll Island, Valdosta, Birmingham and Atlanta.

Receptions in all cities will begin at 6 p.m., and the programs will begin at 7 p.m. Registration is required for each event, except Atlanta’s program.
