UGA’s CORE Dance Company presents spring 2011 concert

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia CORE Concert Dance Company will present its Contemporary and Aerial Dance Concert 2011 March 2-5 at 8 p.m. each evening in the new dance theatre on campus. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students and seniors, and are available at the Tate Student Center cashier’s window Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased the evening of the performances for cash only at the box office, which opens at 7 p.m.

The 2011 concert, Journeys Into the Vortex, features music, film, aerial and contemporary dance fusion as well as performances with bungee-assistance, trapeze, lyra, silks and swings. Highlighting the concert are performances by guest artists, including Meaghan Muller, formerly of Cirque de Soliel, and Mario Chacón Arias, Bailarín Compañía Nacional de Danza, Costa Rica. “This concert is an excursion of good feelings and delight that explores several aural/sensory landscapes through visions, meditations and dreams,” said Bala Sarasvati, Jane Willson Professor in the Arts and artistic director of CORE.
