Athens, Ga. - Katherine Froehlich-Grobe, one of the leading researchers and educators in the field of health promotion and behavioral sciences, will speak at the University of Georgia March 29 at 3:30 p.m. in Room S175 of the Coverdell Center.

Froehlich-Grobe, an associate professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Texas-Dallas, will give a lecture titled, "Promoting Health for Individuals with Disabilities: Time to Act." A meet-and-greet reception with her will precede the lecture at 2:30 p.m. The reception and lecture are sponsored by the UGA Obesity Initiative and the College of Education's department of kinesiology.

Froehlich-Grobe's research focuses on developing and assessing interventions concerning behavior change, barriers to community participation and methodological improvements to assess the health status of people with physical disabilities.

On March 30 at 9:30 a.m., Froehlich will participate in a panel discussion on health in people with disabilities hosted by the department of kinesiology as part of the Northeast Georgia Transition Fair and Disability Exposition. The exposition will be held on the fourth and fifth floors of the Tate Student Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The goal of the two events is to facilitate interaction between the academic and disability community on preventative healthcare in persons with disabilities.
