Franklin College advisors make presentations at regional meeting

Athens, Ga. – Advisors and graduate officers from the University of Georgia Franklin College of Arts and Sciences recently made presentations at the meeting of the National Academic Advising Association regional conference in Atlanta.

Stephanie McLeskey presented the STEP (Steps Toward Education Progress) program she developed. The program is designed to assist students who are on probation to develop a personalized plan to help them overcome obstacles to academic success. Elizabeth Sproston and Amber Fetner presented the Certificate in Academic Advising they developed, a centralized advisor training program. Participants receive the certificate once they have attended six personal development courses through the Career Development and Training Office.

Gregory Kline, Katherine Field and Franklin College Associate Dean Michelle Cook presented their work on the assessment of advising, which included the basics of establishing an assessment process, improving an existing process and creating an outcome report.
