Free Concert on the Lawn to be held Sept. 28

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia’s public radio station WUGA-FM 91.7/97.9 FM and the UGA Center for Continuing Education are presenting a free Concert on the Lawn Sept. 28 from 3-5 p.m. at Lumpkin Plaza, 1197 S. Lumpkin St.

The Classic City Band, the Classic City Swing and the Classic City Dixie Dawgs will perform.

The Classic City Band is an 80-person concert band performing marches and other classical and light classical music.

The Classic City Swing is an 18-member band that performs 1940s big band, jazz and swing music.

Dixie Dawgs is a smaller version of members of the Classic City Band playing ragtime and Dixieland music.

Concertgoers are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Beverages and food will be available to purchase from the Georgia Center, a unit of the UGA Office of Public Service and Outreach.

In case of inclement weather the concert will be rescheduled.
