Athens, Ga. - The 30th annual Georgia Economic Outlook luncheon, hosted by the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, is set for Nov. 29 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
Robert T. Sumichrast, who has served as the Terry College's dean since 2007, will deliver the Georgia economic forecast. He holds the Simon S. Selig Jr. Chair for Economic Growth.
Albert W. Niemi Jr., a former dean of the Terry College and current dean of Southern Methodist University's Cox School of Business, will deliver the national forecast. He holds the Tolleson Chair in Business Leadership.
Gov. Nathan Deal will open the program, and UGA President Michael F. Adams will emcee.
Coming on the 100th anniversary of the Terry College, the state's premier economic forecasting event draws business and community leaders for a detailed look into next year's economic prospects.
This year, Sumichrast's remarks will include a candid portrait of one of Georgia's biggest competitive challenges, an analysis of which industries will benefit the most in 2013 and several ideas to ramp up economic development.
Registration opens at 11 a.m., and the luncheon program begins at noon.
Following the Atlanta kickoff, the Economic Outlook series goes on tour around the state, with events in Columbus (Dec. 3), Albany (Dec. 4), Augusta (Dec. 10), Macon (Dec. 11), Swainsboro (Jan. 9), Jekyll Island (Jan. 18), Athens (Jan. 23), Dalton (Jan. 29), Jacksonville, Fla. (Feb. 15) and Charlotte, N.C. (Feb. 22).
The gold sponsors of the Economic Outlook series are AT&T and Zaxby's.
The series' silver sponsors are Hardin Construction Co., Gas South and The PrivateBank. Bronze sponsors include Jackson Electric Membership Corp., Bank of North Georgia and R.W. Allen.
