Greek Life supervision restructured, Vice President Bennett announces

Athens, Ga. – Supervision of the University of Georgia Office of Greek Life will be reassigned from Campus Life to a direct report in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, it was announced today by Vice President Rodney Bennett.

The move means the Office of Greek Life, which previously reported to Campus Life, will now report to Eric Atkinson, assistant to the vice president. The change is effective Oct. 1.

Bennett said the move “will allow the vice president to directly shape services offered to students through the Office of Greek Life.” The change in reporting lines happens to come at a time of transition as the Office of Greek Life seeks to fill three key vacancies.

Atkinson has been in student affairs administration at UGA for the past eight years. He is a graduate of Troy State University, where he was a fraternity member. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in student affairs administration at UGA. “Eric is a key member of the administrative team in student affairs with a depth of experience in working directly with student organizations, which will serve him and the university well in this additional role,” Bennett said.

Searches will begin soon to fill the vacant positions in the Office of Greek Life, Bennett said.
