Interdisciplinary seminar explores the world of game development

Athens, Ga. – Art, music and theater come together in an evening seminar on gaming hosted by Ideas for Creative Exploration (ICE), an interdisciplinary initiative for advanced research in the arts at the University of Georgia. The seminar will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5 p.m. in the Hugh Hodgson School of Music.

Presenters Casey O’Donnell, John Kundert-Gibbs and Brion Kennedy will explore 3D animation, game music composition, game development techniques, art games and more.

O’Donnell has worked as a software engineer and project manager both in and out of the videogame industry. He is currently an assistant professor in UGA’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Athens chapter president of the Georgia Game Developers Association.

Kundert-Gibbs specializes in 3D computer modeling and animation, sound and media design, and dramatic writing and playwrights. He is an associate professor of theatre and film studies.

Kennedy is a co-founder of Audio Aggregate and a member of Bit Brigade, a band that plays the soundtracks to classic Nintendo games while a gamer plays the game from start to finish.
