Athens, Ga. - The University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art will host the Third Annual Juried Student Show Oct. 26 through Nov. 8 in galleries 101 and 307 of the art school. This year's juror is Mark Mason Karelson, artist and director of Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery in Atlanta.

The opening reception for the show is Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Karelson chairs the board of Very Special Arts of Georgia, a non-profit organization founded more than 30 years ago to provide access to the arts for people with disabilities. He also serves on the advisory board of the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

The juried show will feature approximately 80 works by students from the Lamar Dodd School of Art and selected by Karelson.

"The annual juried exhibition is an opportunity for all school of art students to exhibit work in a competitive venue," said Georgia Strange, director of the school. "Special recognition goes to students who serve on the school's Student Advisory Council and work together to organize the complex facets of a competitive exhibition, from receiving and jurying of hundreds of artworks, to hanging and installing a coherent exhibition.

"Students on the council represent 10 graduate programs and 14 undergraduate programs," she said. "The juried show is a major highlight of the academic year because of the quality of the works and the professional experiences it offers."

Galleries 101 and 307 are located on the first and third floors of the art school, which is located at 270 River Rd. on the UGA campus. For more information, see http://www.art.uga.edu/.
