Athens, Ga. ¬- University of Georgia Interim Vice President for Public Service and Outreach Jennifer Frum recently announced the appointment of Laura Meadows as interim director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. The appointment takes effect immediately.
Meadows assumes her expanded leadership role in the Vinson Institute while continuing to serve as associate director of its training division, a position she has held since 2009. The Vinson Institute’s training division provides professional development to thousands of local and state government officials and staff each year.
Prior to joining the Vinson Institute, Meadows served as associate vice president for economic development at UGA, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, and assistant secretary of state for the State of Georgia. She also has held executive positions in the OneGeorgia Authority and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
“Laura Meadows exhibits great enthusiasm and dedication to serving governments at all levels,” said Frum. “Her deep understanding of the University of Georgia and the Vinson Institute’s programs ensures that the institute will continue to help governments find effective and innovative ways to serve their residents.”
Frum had been interim director of the institute since early 2010 and was recently chosen by UGA’s Provost to serve as the interim vice president for public service and outreach.
The Carl Vinson Institute of Government is a public service unit within the University of Georgia that works closely with state and local governments and provides them with customized assistance, objective research, and training and development programs.
