Media Advisory: Press conference to be held to update condition of Lakota

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine will hold a brief press conference today, Oct. 6, 2:30 – 3 p.m. on the front lawn of the college, in order to update the condition of Lakota, the K-9 officer severely injured in a single car accident on Oct. 3.

Dr. Scott Rose, orthopedic surgeon for Lakota, will be on hand to answer questions and describe future care plans for the injured animal, who was brought into the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital late Tuesday evening.

While access to Lakota will not be available at the press conference, the College of Veterinary Medicine has posted photographs of Lakota, which may be uploaded for the media’s use, at http://www.vet.uga.edu/pr/lakota.php. Updated photographs will be added as soon as possible. In addition, video of Lakota, shot this morning at the hospital, will be made available via FTP this afternoon around 2 p.m.; a link for that will be provided this afternoon. The college is located at the Corner of Carlton St. and Agriculture Dr. Parking is available at the Paul Coverdell Center, across the street from the College of Veterinary Medicine on Agriculture Drive.
