Search committee named to seek College of Pharmacy dean

University of Georgia Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Pamela Whitten has appointed a committee to begin a national search to fill the position of dean of the College of Pharmacy.

Peter B. “Bo” Rutledge, Herman E. Talmadge Chair and dean of the School of Law, will chair the search committee, which includes faculty, staff, alumni and a student.

Additional search committee members are:
Kathy Bangle, senior director of development for constituent programs in the Division of Development and Alumni Relations.
Michael Bartlett, Georgia Athletic Association Professor in Pharmacy in the department of pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences and interim assistant dean for nontraditional education and outreach.
Ewan Cobran, assistant professor in the department of clinical and administrative pharmacy.
Brian Cummings, professor in the department of pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences and director of the interdisciplinary toxicology program.
Lori Duke, senior public service associate and assistant dean for experience programs.
Deborah Elder, clinical associate professor in the department of pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.
Susan Fagan, Albert W. Jowdy Professor, Distinguished Research Professor, interim director of interprofessional education and assistant dean of the Augusta University program.
George Francisco, professor in the department of clinical and administrative pharmacy and associate dean.
Miki Hayashi, Pharm.D. student at the Southeast Georgia Campus.
Patricia Holly, program specialist for experience programs.
Shelley Hooks, associate professor in the department of pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.
Melissa Hunter, senior director of finance and administration in the College of Pharmacy.
Eileen Kennedy, associate professor in the department of pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.
Henry Young, associate professor in the department of clinical and administrative pharmacy and director of the pharmaceutical health services, outcomes and policy graduate program.

The committee will be assisted by the UGA Search Group in Human Resources.

College of Pharmacy Dean Svein Øie, who assumed that role in 2000 and is UGA’s longest-serving dean, recently announced that he will be stepping down from his position and returning to the faculty effective July 1, 2018.
