State Botanical Garden of Georgia offers free “Gardening at Night” programs

Athens, Ga. - This summer, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia has scheduled three free "Gardening at Night" events for all ages to come weed, water and harvest heirloom vegetables, fruits and ornamental plants by the light of the rising moon. "Gardening at Night" will be held June 26, July 24 and Aug. 21 from 6-8 p.m., and participants are asked to meet in the Heritage Garden Gazebo each evening.
Debbie Mitchell, the Heritage Garden curator, and Billie Gotsch, the International Garden curator, will lead each "Gardening at Night" program. Discussion topics will include lunar planting, biodynamics and plant lore.
"The garden looks so beautiful and different at night," said Mitchell. "Some of the best friendships I have ever had started while gardening. There is just something about gardening that lends itself to good conversations."
