UGA Student Alumni Association holding ‘Happy Birthday, UGA’ video contest

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Student Alumni Association is holding a “Happy Birthday, UGA” video contest for all UGA student organizations in recognition of Founders Week.

Each campus student organization is asked to produce a short video commemorating the 228th anniversary of UGA’s establishment. A weeklong celebration of the university’s birthday on Jan. 27, Founders Week is sponsored by the UGA Alumni Association and the UGA Emeriti Scholars. Events will be held from Jan. 28 through Feb. 1 this year.

To participate in the contest, organizations must first email or fax a contest entry form to Evan Tighe at eptighe@uga.edu or 706/542-8143. Entry forms are being distributed directly to campus organizations and also can be obtained from Tighe. Contest entry forms must be submitted by Jan. 25 at 5 p.m.

Once an entry form has been submitted, organizations have until Jan. 28 at 11:59 p.m. to post their video to the Student Alumni Association Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SAAatUGA.

Members of the Student Alumni Council and the Office of Public Affairs will judge videos. Judging will be based on creativity, quality, originality and appropriateness. The winning video will be placed on the UGA home page at www.uga.edu.
