Athens, Ga. - Insurance executive Scott G. Sink was named the 2012 Risk Management Alumnus of the Year at the Insurance Society Banquet hosted by the University of Georgia Terry College of Business' Risk Management and Insurance program last month. Sink is the 20th recipient of the UGA RMI award, which was established in 1992.

"Scott's career achievements have distinguished him in his field, and he is well deserving of this recognition," said Rob Hoyt, head of the risk management and insurance program in the Terry College.

Sink is the senior executive vice president of McGriff, Seibels & Williams Inc. and serves as the practice leader for the energy/utility group in Birmingham, Ala., the 6th largest insurance brokerage firm in the U.S. He specializes in providing risk management consulting and insurance brokerage services to large electric, gas and integrated energy companies. Since joining McGriff in 1994, he has been instrumental in developing one of the largest energy/utility practice groups in the country.

Originally from Athens, Sink received his bachelor's degree in risk management and insurance from the Terry College in 1984 and began his career with Virginia Power in Richmond, Va. From 1987-1994, Sink served in several capacities for Alexander & Alexander in its Baltimore, Md. and Washington, D.C. offices.

Sink is a member of the ACE Bermuda Advisory Board and the Oil Casualty Insurance Ltd Advisory Board. He holds the Associate in Risk Management designation from the Insurance Institute of America.

The Terry RMI program began in 1965 and is the largest program of its kind in the U.S. The program is consistently ranked number two in the country by U.S. News and World Report.
