UGA's Terry College of Business to host its 27th annual Georgia Economic Outlook luncheon in Atlanta on Tuesday, Dec. 15

Athens, Ga. – The annual Georgia Economic Outlook luncheon, hosted by the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, will feature two speakers delivering the state and national economic forecast on Tuesday, Dec. 15.

Robert T. Sumichrast, who has served as the Terry College’s dean since 2007, will deliver the Georgia economic forecast. He holds the Simon S. Selig Jr. Chair for Economic Growth.

David A. Wyss will deliver the national forecast. Wyss is the chief economist at Standard & Poor’s, where he is responsible for S&P’s economic forecasts and publications. He co-authors the monthly Equity Insight and the weekly Financial Notes and serves on the board of the National Association for Business Economics. Wyss previously appeared at the Georgia Economic Outlook in December 2007.

Billed as the state’s premier economic forecasting event, the kickoff luncheon in Atlanta draws more than 1,000 of the state’s top business and governmental leaders to the Georgia World Congress Center for a detailed look into next year’s economic prospects. UGA President Michael F. Adams will emcee the program, which begins at noon, and Gov. Sonny Perdue will provide the opening remarks.

Following the Atlanta kickoff, the Economic Outlook series goes on tour around the state, stopping in Savannah (Jan. 14), Augusta (Jan. 15), Macon (Jan. 19), Albany (Jan. 21), Columbus (Jan. 22), Dalton (Jan. 26), Swainsboro (Jan. 28), St.SimonsIsland (Jan. 29) and Athens (March 3).

The silver sponsors of the Economic Outlook series are Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta and Georgia Trend magazine.
