UGA art student wins Windgate Fellowship

Athens, Ga. – Kathleen Janvier, who is working on a bachelor of fine arts degree in jewelry and metals in the University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art, has won a 2009 Windgate Fellowship awarded by the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design, an inter-institutional center of the University of North Carolina.

Janvier, a native of Atlanta, was one of 10 seniors selected from 89 applicants. Her $15,000 Windgate Fellowship will support a six-month apprenticeship in Amsterdam.

This is the first Wingate Fellowship for a student in the Lamar Dodd School of Art, which is part of the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences.
