UGA, Athens-Clarke County government and school district to sponsor third annual “Freedom Brea

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia and Athens-Clarke County government and school district prepare to host the third annual “Freedom Breakfast” in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. national holiday. The breakfast is scheduled for 7:30 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2006, in Georgia Hall at the Tate Student Center on the UGA campus. Damon Evans, UGA’s director of athletics, will be the keynote speaker and four recipients of the “Fulfilling the Dream” award will be presented.

Award recipients, two individuals from the community and two from UGA, will be recognized for significant efforts to build bridges of unity and understanding among residents of Athens-Clarke County.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased through Jan. 6 from UGA’s Office of Institutional Diversity. Ticket order forms for the breakfast can be accessed from the “Events” section of the Office of Institutional Diversity Web site (www.uga.edu/diversity) or may be obtained by calling Joan Pittman at 706/583-8195.
