Athens, Ga. - Linda Campbell, director of the University of Georgia's Center for Counseling in the College of Education, has received a Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association.

Campbell, a professor in the department of counseling and human development services, was one of only 10 psychologists chosen this year for the recognition. From among the 150,000 members of the APA, the president selects 10 members who have made distinguished and outstanding contributions to the profession each year.

APA President Melba Vasquez noted Campbell's "...commitment to serving as a role model for an ethics-centered professional life and for her contributions to advancing a culture of competence, her dedication to teaching and scholarship and her devoted time to serving psychologists, students and clients through her wisdom, high energy and positive outlook."

Campbell is a licensed psychologist in the State of Georgia. Her teaching and research interests include ethics, psychotherapy and assessment training, cognitive behavioral therapies, supervision, and assessment.

Campbell was first author of the APA's Ethics Code Commentary and Case Illustrations book in 2010. The APA's Code of Ethics is the accepted set of standards for professional behavior of psychologists. She has since published several chapters on ethics and education and training. She is completing a co-authored book on self-help resources.

Campbell is a member of the APA Council of Representatives and the APA Policy and Planning Board. She also is vice-president of the Georgia State Board of Examiners of Psychology.
