UGA employees donate more than $400,000 to Campaign for Charities

Athens, Ga. – Donations to the University of Georgia’s Campaign for Charities topped $400,000 for the eighth consecutive year.

The statewide charitable giving campaign enables UGA employees to support the work of more than 1,200 service agencies in Georgia, many of which are engaged in the local community.

A total of $402,298 was raised, with 2,000 university faculty and staff members participating. Their gifts will support the work of 394 service agencies.

“Serving as campaign chair has been a privilege and an honor, and it has provided a shining example of how gracious and considerate the UGA community is during times of need,” said Greg McGarity, the J. Parker Reid Director of Athletics. “We joined together to meet critical needs in communities across the state of Georgia, and we are extremely grateful and appreciative to those who were so generous.

“A heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all who participated and especially to the team captains who steered the campaign,” McGarity said. “You have made our campaign theme come alive: ‘Give Today, Change Tomorrow.’ “
