UGA hosts Dawg Gone Healthy Day

Athens, Ga. – The fourth annual Dawg Gone Healthy Day will be held on Wednesday, April 21 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the Tate Plaza. The health festival will offer games, activities, prizes, music, free food and drinks. The event is sponsored by the University Health Center and its student groups.

This year the festival will have a cruise ship theme, with the slogan “Cruise to Good Health.” It will feature a variety of health related games and activities representing life aboard a cruise ship and Caribbean ports. Students attending the festival will increase their awareness of health issues that affect them now and in the future. The event focuses on healthy choices, healthy living and healthy fun.

In addition to the UHC student groups, several health center departments will be represented at the festival this year. The physical therapy department will be offering free massages. The pharmacy will provide a variety of sunscreen products to sample, and will have a special Woods lamp that will show students the damaging effects of sun on unprotected skin. The Vision Clinic will provide general vision screenings and staff will polish and adjust glasses for free.

Over two hundred prizes donated by local merchants will be given away during the festival. The prizes range from a free massage, free dental cleaning and certificates for food, activities, clothing and gifts. All students participating in activities are eligible to win a prize.
