Athens, Ga. – The investiture of Jere W. Morehead as the 22nd president of the University of Georgia will be Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. in the Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall on the UGA campus. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby are among the dignitaries who will participate in the ceremony, which will be streamed live on the uga.edu website and broadcast live on Channel 15 of the university and Charter cable systems.

After a national search that culminated earlier this year, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia selected Morehead, who had been the university’s senior vice president for academic affairs and provost since 2010. He became president on July 1.

Morehead has served as vice president for instruction, vice provost for academic affairs, associate provost and director of the Honors Program and acting executive director of legal affairs. He is the Meigs Professor of Legal Studies in the Terry College of Business.

Morehead is an alumnus of the University of Georgia.
