UGA pharmacy to hold ‘Dawgtoberfest: Rx for Good Health’ Oct. 16

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy is celebrating American Pharmacists Month with the 11th Annual Dawgtoberfest: Rx for Good Health on Oct. 16 from noon to 3 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Pharmacy South building.

Sponsored by Walgreens and the UGA Parents and Families Association, the health promotion event will include free health screenings, food and T-shirts as well as discounted flu shots to all attendees.

Free rapid cholesterol testing, diabetes assessments and blood pressure checks also will be available. Additionally, student and faculty booths from student health groups across campus will be present with information on hypertension, asthma, breast cancer, diabetes, fad diets, immunizations, sexually transmitted diseases, women’s health topics, pediatric health topics and heartburn.

Dawgtoberfest is open to university students, faculty and staff and the Athens community.

The College of Pharmacy is located in the center of campus next to Snelling Dining Commons. Parking will be available in South Campus parking deck.
