UGA to welcome students to residence halls during Hunker Down with Housing

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia’s Department of University Housing will welcome all new and returning students to residence halls on campus Friday, Aug. 10, through Sunday, Aug. 12 during its annual Hunker Down with Housing move-in event.

A program to streamline the move-in process, Hunker Down with Housing assists with traffic congestion, parking lot management and elevator service. Each year hundreds of UGA students, faculty and staff volunteer to help more than 5,000 new and returning students move into their residence halls.

On Aug. 10 between the 6 a.m. and 1 p.m., traffic is expected to be very heavy on Baxter, Lumpkin, Finley, Hull and Church streets. Members of the Athens community are advised to avoid these areas. Traffic is likely to remain congested around all residence halls throughout the weekend.
