UGA to host annual volunteer fair Sept. 23

Athens, Ga. – The University of Georgia Center for Leadership and Services will host the annual UGA volunteer fair Sept. 23 from noon-5 p.m. in the Tate Student Center Grand Hall.

Open to the entire university community, the fair is an opportunity for potential volunteers to learn about service projects and initiatives from more than 50 organizations and agencies. More than 1,000 students, faculty and staff attended last year’s event.

Lyndon Lee, a second year accounting/finance major, said that the volunteer fair is one of the most important events a UGA student can attend.

“My experiences in these organizations have given me personal satisfaction from helping others and professional benefits by helping me stand out from fellow internship applicants,” said Lee.

Lee is a member of Volunteer UGA, a student organization that promotes civic engagement through supporting collaborations between other service-based student organizations. Like many students, he discovered Volunteer UGA and the university’s numerous additional service oriented organizations by attending the volunteer fair.

“One organization is all it takes to change your whole college experience,” he said.
