Athens, Ga. - The State Botanical Garden at the University of Georgia will host five events May 20-23 as part of Celebrating Wildflowers Week in May. The events range from a hands-on gardening workday to informative walks to poetry readings and are intended to teach attendees about native plants, their value and the importance of conservation.

The Celebrating Wildflowers program was created by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service in 1991 and grew to include other agencies, garden clubs, botanical gardens, nurseries, native plant society chapters, universities and public schools across the nation.
