UGA College of Veterinary Medicine to host annual shelter medicine seminar

The fourth annual Shelter Medicine Seminar will be held Jan. 29 at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. The all-day event is focused on the best management and medicine practices for local and regional animal shelters. People who work with animal rescue groups, animal control facilities and humane societies in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina are encouraged to attend.

UGA College of Veterinary Medicine appoints Jackwood to head population health

The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine has appointed Mark W. Jackwood, a molecular virologist known for his work in avian diseases, to head its department of population health. The department includes the college's food animal management program, laboratory animal veterinarians, as well as two significant areas of public service and outreach: the Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center and the Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study.

UGA College of Veterinary Medicine students host benefit auction

The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine's Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association will host a benefit auction in the Grand Hall of the Tate Student Center on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. The evening will include dinner, a live and silent auction, and other activities. This auction, the biggest fundraiser for SCAVMA, will provide support for veterinary students who are pursuing advanced degrees through the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Registration opens for UGA’s ‘Vet School for a Day’

Registration opens Aug. 10 for the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine’s seventh annual “Vet School for a Day.”The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 28. This program brings high school students from throughout Georgia to the university’s campus to learn about careers in veterinary medicine.
