Academic advisors participating in the program earn the certificate upon completion of six advisor training courses and attendance at one of the Academic Advising Coordinating Council advisor workshops. The Academic Advising Coordinating Council, a group of faculty and professional staff advisors representing every undergraduate school and college and other related units, directs the certificate in collaboration with Training and Development. The primary purposes of the workshop are to provide important information to new and experienced advisors about degree requirements, campus resources and other issues related to academic advising; increase the visibility of academic advising at UGA and recognize the important role advisors can play in student success; and offer a forum for faculty and professional staff advisors from across campus to get to know one another, develop working relationships and discuss issues of common concern.
