Anneliese A. Singh, American Psychologicial Association Division on Women Award

Anneliese A. Singh, a counseling professor the College of Education’s department of counseling and human development services, received the Asian American Psychological Association Division on Women Award for the presentation “Beyond Geishas and the Kama Sutra: Asian American/Pacific Islander Women’s Sexuality.”

The presentation was a response to the eroticized or non-existent sexuality of Asian-American women in the U.S.

Singh researches multicultural counseling and social justice; qualitative methodology with historically marginalized groups; advocacy to end child sexual abuse in South Asian communities; feminist theory and practice; lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender counseling; Asian-American counseling and psychology issues; and empowerment interventions with trauma survivors.
