Assemblies of God votes to consolidate its three colleges

After 30 years of discussion, the governing body of the Assemblies of God voted to merge its three colleges in Springfield, Mo., The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

Under the new plan, Evangel University, Central Bible College and Assemblies of God Theological Seminary will consolidate into one institution of higher education. The move is meant to help grow enrollment, strengthen academic programs and erase debt. Alumni of Central Bible College voted against the plan, which they feared would cause CBC to lose its identity, the Chronicle reported. After consolidation, the new institution will be known as Evangel University.
