A Nova Scotia Chronicle-Herald story about cancer-causing toxins leaking from unexploded munitions at the bottom of the sea quoted James Porter, associate dean and Josiah Meigs Distinguished Professor in the Odum School of Ecology.
“The problem that we have studied looks at the unexploded ordnance, which then lie on the sea floor, corrode and leak these toxic materials into the ocean,” Porter said. “It’s not a problem that’s isolated in one country. I would think every nation that has a coastline would have this problem.”
