Some of the most acclaimed musicians in bluegrass and related genres are coming to Hodgson Concert Hall just two weeks apart—and in duos that play and stay together.

On May 6 at 7:30 p.m., Grammy-nominated mandolinist Sierra Hull appears with her husband, multi-instrumentalist Justin Moses. Hull released her first album and made her Grand Ole Opry debut at age 10. Ten years later, she played the White House, and she has won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s mandolin player of the year award three years in a row. Moses can play all the bluegrass instruments with ease, and won the IBMA’s dobro player of the year award in 2018.

On May 19 at 7:30 p.m., married banjo duo Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn perform a concert that was repeatedly rescheduled during the pandemic. They have been hailed as “the king and queen of the banjo” by Paste magazine.

Fleck is a 15-time Grammy Award-winning icon who has taken his instrument to new places across multiple genres. Washburn is a singer-songwriter and clawhammer banjo star who has radicalized her instrument by combining its sounds with Eastern influences. Together they won a 2016 Grammy for their album Béla Fleck And Abigail Washburn.

Tickets for Fleck and Washburn’s postponed concerts on Oct. 24, 2021; Feb. 6, 2021; and May 9, 2020, will be honored for this performance. Contact the Performing Arts Center box office for more information.
