The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia named Richard A. Carvajal president of Valdosta State University. His appointment was effective Jan. 1.
Carvajal most recently was interim president of Darton State College in Albany. Prior to that, he was president of Bainbridge State College.
Carvajal holds a doctorate in educational administration with emphasis in higher education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, a master’s in college student personnel administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and a bachelor’s in mass communication/sociology from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.
