Caltech basketball team wins its first conference game in 26 years

The California Institute of Technology’s men’s basketball team broke an in-conference losing streak that dates back more than a quarter century Feb. 22 with a 46-45 win over Occidental College, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported.

The Beavers’ streak, which lasted for 310 games since 1985, was broken by two free-throw shots scored by senior Ryan Elmquist with three seconds left in the game. A last-second half-court shot from Occidental following the free throws failed to produce any points, securing the win for Caltech.
